Eve University Opening 3 New Ethnic Corporations
Posted by: PreTender @ 5/15/2012 7:00:00 PM

Our universe of New Eden is expanding by leaps and bounds. We are witnessing a unique time in history when the opportunity to become a capsuleer is being offered to more cultures than ever before. Eve University is capitalizing on this with the addition of new divisions.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting with Kelduum Revaan, CEO of Eve University and CSM7 representative. Their organization is spearheading the welcoming of new capsuleers into New Eden with the formation of three new corporations targeting three major ethnic groups within New Eden - German, Russian, and Japanese, with possible corporate expansions into other New Eden ethnicities if these endeavors are successful. Each group will have its own CEO and command structure, all under the guidance and direction of Eve University.

"Progress has been slow but steady. Most of our work has been toward ensuring our frameworks we have can scale and support different languages, as well as selecting the Director of Operations for each of the new corporations.", stated Kelduum. "Our existing Ivy League Navy will be expanded to encompass the new corporations, and we are working on cross-language fleet communications protocols to allow non-native speakers to both lead and take part in fleets."

When asked about how the different cultures would coexist with their unique mannerisms and traditions, Kelduum had this to say, "The differing cultures are the reasons why we formed new corporations rather than have the new pilots within E-UNI itself. Differing languages are of course a major issue, but the core concepts of EVE University itself, cooperation, and sharing experience, is something that is common to most cultures."

Public relations, and publicity have been slow but steady according to Kelduum, however Eve University has a significant list of capsuleers standing by to assist the new pilots in their native languages.

For now, the community should keep an eye on the UniWiki and watch for announcements about content which is flagged for translation. If you, or someone you know is interested in helping out with EVE Akademie, EVE Institut or EVE Daigaku, then drop an EVEmail to Kelduum Revaan.

Rapid and surprising rise of technological advancements in previously stagnant fields
Posted by: PreTender @ 5/14/2012 2:40:00 PM

Major advances have been made recently in various once-stagnant scientific fields, throughout all of civilized New Eden. While the full impact of these advances has yet to be measured, their effects, for good and ill, are already being felt at various levels of society.

Over the following days, we will present a brief overview of the current state of affairs. It must be noted that the brevity of this reportage is due partly to how new these advances are - The Scope always strives to be first  - and partly because of the cloud of secrecy that overhangs them. There has been an intensification of high-level interest in the great factional wars, and it is believed, though not yet proven, that these scientific advances are due at least in part to the efforts of those political forces. It will not come as any surprise to our readers that all questions related, if even tangentially, to these forces and their effects on the war efforts are met with muted silence.

It must also be noted that the various entities responsible for these advances have remained extremely reticent to comment on any part of the process. This applies not only to those directly involved - scientists known to be working on related projects, educational and research institutions whose charters explicitly involve the fields in question, and so on - but also those believed to be indirectly involved, including the members and commanding officers of any scouting or expeditionary forces whose missions clearly have brought back more than anyone expected. Even when questioned about a tangential matter - such as rumors of a drug (reputedly codenamed "Inferno") whose functions have supposedly had a direct effect on the status of recent scientific advancements - there is near-total silence.

Nonetheless, we believe we have uncovered more than enough information to present a fair and balanced look at both sides of these new technological advancements. Their upsides, as our readers might expect from any new advancement in science, are numerous and apply to both the lowest rungs of earthbound societies and the upper echelons of capsuleerdom. Their downsides, however, are equally notable, not merely for the direct effect they have on certain parts of human society, animals and the environment in New Eden, but also for the damage they may be doing to progress in other fields - xenobiology, archaelogy, history and various social sciences.

Possible inaccuracy in EVE notification dates
Posted by: PreTender @ 5/12/2012 4:47:00 PM

Currently our Game Masters and developers are looking into an issue that causes some warning EVE mails and notifications that contain both dates and the name of a day (for example mails that remind you when a structure will come out of reinforced mode) to display inaccurate information. As of now the actual date (for example May 15th) seems to be correct in all cases, however the name of the day (for example Wednesday) may be inaccurate.

We are still looking into the matter, but as a precaution we advise everyone that receives these mails to double check the information as presented.

For further information please refer to this forum post.

The feature site for EVE Online's 17th free expansion, Inferno, has been launched.

More than any other expansion in EVE's history, Inferno aims to shake up all levels of warfare in the 7,500 star systems in EVE's massive universe. Overhauls of major war-related game systems will affect player-driven conflict and the first set of many new ship modules to come promise to alter tactics at the most visceral levels.

Please go here to study the features that will help you set the universe on fire on May 22nd.
